Kathryn, Wes and Liily at Les Rouges TerresKATHRYN, WES & LILLY

“I have a little French dream which I wasn’t sure was ever going to be a reality until I was lucky enough to stay at Les Rouges Terres.

It is a beautiful old farmhouse, full of history and charm with happy dogs & chickens running round us, fields full of fruit trees with nature unwinding itself everywhere you look.

It was my French dream; a place of warmth, family and contentedness and full of inspiration.

Catrina took us vintage shopping at the vide greniers. We found some fabulous vintage finds to bring home.  On an evening we drank wine and bubbles and experienced the most delicious home cooked meals. A day could not be more perfect than one spent here!

We brought Lilly our dog for a holiday too and she had a great time with Dodge, Bertie & Basil. With a lake to swim in and fields to run in there was no wonder we had to bribe her with biscuits to get in the car and leave.

Thank you to Catrina, Jeffrey & Clive for being such wonderful kind hosts and sharing your amazing French home with us. We have so many lovely memories from our stay and can’t wait to come again soon!

Love Kathryn, Wes & Lilly”

Cheryl, Gareth, Lily and Ethan“We have stayed at Les Rouges Terres on a number of occasions and view it as a home away from home.

Once the local markets have been plundered, culinary masterpieces are attempted in the lovely farmhouse kitchen. Fresh herbs are handily grown outside the back door; fresh eggs from the free roaming chickens can be purchased on request, and of course huge helpings of fresh air.

After a week, the whole family is ruddy-faced from outdoor playing, trips to the beach, walks through forest and along the riverbank.

We thank you, LRT, a true salve to the hurly-burly of life.”

Julie“I flew in from Canada to meet my family from the UK to celebrate various birthdays, and Les Rouges Terres provided us with a wonderful base.

The house is gorgeous, with heaps of character and lots of space, so even with nine of us it did not feel crowded.  We especially loved the Conservatory for relaxed breakfasts, and the long dining table in the main Living Room for family dinners.

Upstairs, the Loft provided a hideaway for the teenagers to play ‘table football’ or just hang out.  Sitting outside on a sunny afternoon or evening was totally relaxing, with the chickens and dogs for company.  The location was perfect for exploring the Normandy war memorials, as well as gorgeous beaches and historic towns.  There was so much to see and do that we ran out of time.  Catrina and her family were excellent hosts and very helpful.  We will be back! ”

Henry, Paula and Ben Goddard and friend Henry“Being animal and nature lovers we are drawn back to Les Rouges Terres every year.

We especially love dining al fresco while we watch the ducks and moorhens on the lake and sip our evening aperitif.

The sun goes down and the frog chorus begins – the end of another lovely day. There is no better place to spend recharging our batteries.

We adore the relaxed and “throw your shoes off” atmosphere, the French ‘shabby chic’ decor, the myriad of interesting rooms filled with beautiful old French furniture and knick knacks.

Catrina and her lovely family are just as laid back , warm and welcoming as the house. They are perfect hosts.”

Val Pete and PhoebeWe have just stayed at the charming Les Rouge Terres for an autumn break.

Very rustic, yet with everything you need in a well equipped french farm house.

Beds were comfy and the log fire in the sitting room was so welcoming.  We were made very welcome by the owners.

A good place to chill out and relax, but we were only 35 minutes from the coast and the beautiful beaches of Normandy.”

Debbie RylandsTucked away in the Normandy countryside is a little piece of Heaven. I return year after year.

For me Les Rouges Terres has become a Retreat, somewhere I can get away from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

The old Farmhouse, set in beautiful grounds with its own lake ( including a dinghy for messing about on the water!), has been lovingly and creatively restored.

After a week or so of relaxing I return home – carrying a few extra pounds both around my waist ( from all the lovely food) and in my luggage ( from treasures bought at local vide greniers).

Les Rouges Terres – a place to just ‘be’.

“Quite simply, we adored our stay at Les Rouges Terres.

Being lovers of vintage, we booked one of their Vintage Weekends and had a wonderful time.

Just a hop, skip & a jump from the UK in Normandy, it is a truly fabulous farmhouse. From the attention to detail, cozy comfort, exquisite food to the very warm welcome from Catrina and her lovely dogs, we can’t say enough.

Catrina made a wonderful guide taking us on a treasure hunt of vintage finds. The Vide Grenier was the highlight – we got great buys with much thanks to Catrina’s negotiation skills & help with French.

We can’t wait to go back – shame we have to share such a wonderful find and only hope there is room for us when we go back again soon”.
